The mission of the University of Northern Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is. "to offer a comprehensive program in entrepreneurship education for student populations and coordinate the University's intellectual property and technology transfer activities." The JPEC provides entrepreneurship education for K-college student entrepreneurs from UNI and other area colleges, as well as, faculty and staff entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship education is both academic and applied.
Academic entrepreneurship is provided through a minor and certificate in entrepreneurship and the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute. Applied entrepreneurship involves programs such as the R. J. McElroy Student Business Incubator and UNIEntrepreneurs, the student organization.
As part of the applied entrepreneurship program, the JPEC provides one-on-one small business counseling. Assistance ranges from basic information on starting a small business to more advanced assistance. To schedule an appointment with a JPEC small business consultant, call the JPEC at 319-273-JPEC (5732) or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Occasionally the JPEC offers non-credit workshops on various topics of interest to entrepreneurs. To find out what workshops or presentations by speakers are scheduled, call our office at (319) 273-JPEC, or e-mail us at email@example.com. Registration is required to attend the workshops.
